About Deirdre Farrell - Rahney Counselling

Irish Assocation of Counselling

About Deirdre Farrell graduated from The Tivoli Institute in Dun Laoghaire as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am an accredited member of the IACP (The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) for the past 12 years. I attend regular supervision, which is a requirement under the IACP

Code of Ethics and Practice and supports me in my role as a psychotherapist.
The start of my professional career began with a BSc in Management Law from Trinity College Dublin. I subsequently worked in middle management and personnel. Since 2007, I work in The Brookhaven Rehabilitation Centre, Coolock, Dublin 17 with the Family Support Services. My position there is to provide Counselling and support to families affected by alcoholism/ addiction. Under the Drugs Intervention Programme, I provide Counselling and Psychotherapy for young adults, struggling to manage their lives due to alcoholism and drug related problems.

I run a private practice in Raheny and have extensive experience of working with men and women and teenagers over 16years who have difficulties with:

  • Relationship problems
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Low self esteem and lack of confidence
  • Anger management
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Childhood trauma
  • Addiction and Codependency

I believe the relationship that is formed between the therapist and client is unique. It facilitates understanding of your difficulties, increases self awareness and helps you connect with, and use, your own strengths and inner resources. This relationship has the potential for you to identify the appropriate course of action for you – either to help you resolve your difficulties or find a better and more meaningful way to cope with these issues.
