Why come for Counselling?

Life can create much turmoil, whether it’s from past/current relationships, experiences or in the here and now. Sometimes for reasons that may seem unclear, feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger or depression can be triggered or come to the surface. Whether you are experiencing a problem for the first time or have been struggling with long term difficulties it can be of real benefit to talk with a professional counsellor. You may find it easier to talk to an “outsider” rather than family or friends about some issues.

Counselling and Therapy can help you to:

  • Clarify and express what you are thinking and feeling
  • See how your early childhood experiences, influences and continues to affect your present life
  • Understand what part you play in your relationship to others
  • Understand and work through difficult feelings
  • Prioritise what is most important to you so you can look forward with greater confidence

About Deirdre

Deirdre Farrell qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist from The Tivoli Institute in Dun Laoghaire. I am an accredited member of the IACP (The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) for the past 12 years. I have provided counselling and support to young adults recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Since 2007 Deirdre provided support and therapy to families whose lives have been affected by addiction. I run a private practice in Raheny offering counselling to clients experiencing mental and emotional difficulties.

My style of counselling is to listen, support and perhaps help with insight to either change what is possible or to live more contently and creatively with that which is not. Deirdre believes the relationship that is formed between the therapist and client is unique. This relationship has the potential for you to heal the past, except the present and provide more options to realise your personal potential.
